Hearts and Hammers celebrated their inaugural fund-raising event for 2014 on Friday, May 2 at the newly renovated Pump Hill home of H&H founder Dave Bonk.
The Sweet Hearts event featured chocolate from Lindt, fine wines and whiskey for pairing, and an art auction to raise money for the next Hearts and Hammers renovation project.
“The event was a complete success,” said Bonk.
Sweet Hearts was able to raise over $12,000 through donations and sponsorships.
Over $4,000 was raised through the auction of art from some of Calgary’s most talented established and up-and-coming artists.
Jonathan Denis, Alberta’s minister of justice, and Wayne Cao, MLA for Calgary-Fort, both made appearances to support Hearts and Hammers and the cause of accessible housing in Calgary.
The evening also featured live music by local Calgary performer Angie Coombes.
Sweet Hearts was made possible through the generous donations of Nu Automations, Hunter Tristan Design, Marvel Cabinetry, Deb Windle of Royal LePage Solutions, and Kerry Hunter of Property Solutions, along with supporting sponsors FMF Heating and Cooling, and April Mazarine of Mazarine Moon Screen Printing.
