Congratulations go out to Dave Bonk, founder of Hearts and Hammers Calgary on his Coaches Award win at the Social Venture Partners Fast Pitch on April 16, 2015.
Fast Pitch is a competition between twenty-two non-profit organization leaders in Calgary, with each leader given 3 minutes to make a pitch for their organization. The organizations were chosen based on their innovative approaches to creating social change that could bring significant positive community impact.
Training and mentoring for the competitors was provided by fifty volunteer business professionals for 2 months on how to make their pitch to a judging panel and an audience.
Eleven finalists were picked to to participate on competition night April 16. Each was given 3 minutes to present the mission, vision, promise and model of their organization for the opportunity to win grants and prizes. With only 3 minutes, the presenters pitches needed to be high energy and fast moving, not an easy task with so many talented leaders participating.
Dave’s pitch went very well as expected, thanks to excellent coaching by mentor Chris McFetridge of Imperial Oil. So congratulations Dave and Chris on winning the Coaches Choice Award for 2015 … well done!
MC’s for the event were Renée Amber and Andrew Phung, two well known actors and media stars that provided great entertainment for the evening to a crowd of over 260 audience members.
Judges this year included Kara Lilly (Investment Strategist at Mawer), Mike Morrison, (writer of Mike’s Bloggity Blog), and Ken Lima-Coelho (VP Marketing and Communications at the YMCA Calgary).
