Hearts and Hammers held a successful hot dog sale at RONA Home and Garden Southland location this past Saturday. Great weather for the event, albeit a little too hot standing next to the BBQ.
There was an awesome team effort displayed with organizing this under short notice. Credit goes to our Communications Director Cindy Eberth, Vice Chair Bart Bates, Director Sue Trefry and Director Roland Lequier, all who skillfully handled the logistics for the event.
The hot dog sale allowed Hearts and Hammers the chance to let more people know about the type of activities we are engaged in. Many people who stopped by for a hot dog or just to chat were very impressed by the fact that we provided the ability for the mobility challenged to remain in their homes. Several people commented ‘oh, you do all this for free?’. A few individuals who didn’t want a hot dog gave a cash donation after finding out what the fundraising is for. Great feeling for a Hearts and Hammers volunteer indeed!
Thanks to RONA for allowing us to set up next to the exit for maximum walk-by traffic. We had a good turnout despite the day being more suitable for camping or hiking or biking … anything other than home renovations!
To everyone who stopped by our table, thank you! We greatly appreciate your support and interest, so please contact us if you would like to know more about us.
And lastly, thanks to all the Hearts and Hammers volunteers and food servers who helped make the event possible.
Hope to see you all at the next event, but in the meantime here are a few highlights from Saturday. Photos by author.
